How is your vision?

anterior_median_lateral_eyes Like many of you, I am working my way slowly through Seth Godin’s latest ebook, What Matters Now,  because it’s worth the time and effort.  For me, it’s a nice early Christmas present.

I just finished Michael Hyatt’s contribution to the ebook, a piece addressing Vision.

In a down economy – particularly one that has take most of us by surprise – things get very tactical.  We are just trying to survive.  What worked yesterday does not necessarily work today.  What works today may no necessarily work tomorrow.  Decisions become pragmatic.

But after a while this wears on people.  They don’t know why their efforts matter.  they cannot connect their actions to a larger story.  Their work becomes a matter of just going through the motions, living from weekend to weekend, paycheck to paycheck.

He ends his piece with the following – and though I wish he were wrong and vision remained clear and focused during tough times, he’s right.

When times are tough, vision is the first casualty.  Before conditions can improve, its is the first thing we must recover.

As you prepare to lead your business into 2010, how are you going to recover your vision?  How will you rally your team?  Lift their spirits?  Put some spring into their step?

Might I suggest something that brings everyone together, focuses them on a  shared vision and gets them intimately involved in defining and clarifying their role in the organization’s success?  Call 651-756-1539 today in order to learn more.
